Weight Gain

Weight Gain

Can you relate?

  • Unexplained weight gain even though you’ve been eating the same and exercising the same
  • Short term memory loss: can’t remember where your keys or your kids are.
  • The blues and mood swings
  • Fibroids, endometriosis
  • Bleeding for too many days in a row, or excessively heavy
  • Sticking your head in the freezer to relieve the hot flashes
  • Asking yourself periodically ‘who am I’?
  • Bloated, digestive issues that came out of nowhere
  • Needing coffee to get through the day
  • Sleep? What’s that?

It’s not you. It’s your hormones! If you are between the ages of 35 and 60, you have entered a hormonal storm that can last up to 10 years, that isn’t going to let up without intervention. Just like me, hormonal imbalances can occur at any age and as young as the onset of menstruation. Regardless of when the hormonal storm begins and symptoms surface, there is help available.

There is hope.

Hi there. I’m Lynn Altieri-Need, F.D.N., B.S., trained in the Hormone Cure by Dr. Sara Gottfried a Harvard-trained gynecologist. I’ve been there! After 16 years of hormonal pain I found nutrition as my savior. Today, I’m in perimenopause myself, 45, and feel fantastic. I’m passionate about being a womens hormone expert.

I want you too to feel empowered, to improve your symptoms and have tools that will support you in feeling great. I believe that every women is entitled to feeling great in their own body. I have pursued specialized training to help women identify the tools you need to get their hormones back in balance.

I’ve been there. I have experienced chronic menstrual pain resolved by a pair of “period” pants that were 2 sizes too big solely to be able to fit a hot water bottle down the front and down the back to help stop the pain. I experienced hot flashes in my teens through my 20s, was injected with drugs numerous times and was told by my doctor(s) –I sought many, many, experts- to have a hysterectomy. By that point, I directed my efforts to nutrition (despite all of the doctors that told me it had nothing to do with my pain).

Guess what? They were wrong. Nutrition has been the source of my healing.

Now, I’m trained in diagnostics (yes, I test rather than “guess”) and in nutrition as well. I have such a deep toolbox that I can pull from so that, together, we can work toward finding for you your best set of tools to help you heal.

My mission is to help women balance their sex, thyroid, sleep and eating hormones by teaching them tools for life so they can stop feeling overweight, tired, frazzled and out of control. Because we women give so much, and deserve to feel great.

I would be honored to walk with you through your symptoms, supporting all of your H.I.D.D.E.N. stressors that are creating your hormonal storm. Since opening my business in 2014 I’ve helped many women feel their best. You can read their stories here.

I currently live in the United States but can work with anyone located anywhere in the world via the phone, email, Facetime or Skype. I’d like to invite you to a 30 minute free consultation.

During our visit, we will discuss your main complaints, what’s worked for you, what hasn’t and what the next best path would be for you to begin exploring healing and recovery. I’m so grateful that our paths have crossed. Please continue to read below about how hormonal balances are restored.

How are symptoms related to hormones?

Symptoms such as hot flashes, mood fluctuations, unexplained weight gain, digestive issues, skin issues, growing hairs in places that shouldn’t be, hair falling out, sleepless nights and so much more are created by estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, DHEA, cortisol, insulin, thyroid being out of whack. All of these hormones work together in a “dance”. When one partner is off rhythm then it affects the rest of them.

With women and hormones there are three reasons for these hormonal imbalances:

Genetic predisposition
External stress creates internal stress. Nature slowly prepares the body to stop reproducing. These two issues create the perfect storm.

So where do we begin? We look at what and how we eat and what your hormones are doing.

I test, rather than guess. This may be through self-assessments or lab kits that can be shipped directly to your home, anywhere in the world.

With my clients, I explore:

  • the unique diet that strengthens the balance in the hormones that have been identified as not in balance and that works for your lifestyle.
  • other H.I.D.D.E.N. stressors and work toward removing them
  • specific nutrients that will help support and strengthen your systems.
  • What are potentially other H.I.D.D.E.N. stressors?
    • Immune dysfunction
    • Digestive dysfunction
    • Detoxification
    • Environment and its impact
    • Neurotransmitters (our calming mechanisms)… that are typically affected by HORMONES!

These are the major systems that I will explore with you. It may sound challenging but I will be there to walk with you through identifying all of the stressors and the right tools to help you feel improved and STOP your hormones from speaking out!

You are entitled to feel good and improved, regardless of what you may be told by other specialists. Look forward to improving your energy, reducing or stopping your hot flashes, improving your digestion, losing unwanted weight, restoring mood and memory and feeling overall improvement!
